mortgage/harvest/hearing aides

August 30th, 2020 at 02:51 am

Mortgage principal pay down is going well. I am claiming (to inspire me)pay off date of July 2023. I belong to a FB group of people working on paying down their mortgage and it is truly inspirational for me.

I canned about 10 jars of diced tomatoes with organic tomatoes I've grown. The harvest is dwindling, but overall I am pretty happy. Nothing better than a homegrown tomatoes.

About those hearing aides...I've know for quite a few years that I have hearing loss. I've resisted the idea of getting hearing aides for a long, long time. I finally had to face the music, especially now that all school staff and student body will be wearing masks. I know that masks will be a bit of a problem for me. I have high frequency hearing loss. I purchased my hearing aides today (small and inconspicuous) at a cost of $1500 plus the cleaning box. We charged them to our credit card but will pay it in full mid-September when CC is due.

I feel for people who depend on reading lips in this age of masks.

An investment in your health is always a good investment. My son got hearing aids last year and it has made a big difference in his life.

I just don't understand why they are so expensive, and why health insurance/Medicare especially doesn't cover this.

Fern: When my mom was alive this was one of her biggest health care frustrations, why her hearing aids weren't covered by her Medicare health insurance. And how expensive they were.

Good call on the hearing aids. Hope they help. I honestly need them and have put off getting them and the whole mask thing makes things so much more difficult for me.

Fern, we called our health insurance and hearing aides are not covered. I was quoted so much more at my ENT doctor. These have a wonderful warranty so I decided to go with Costco.
